Unlike Reddit, Lemmy makes no attempt to spoon feed and algorithmically tailor to what it believes will garner the largest audience.

You have to do a little curating here. Block users, communities, and even whole servers that you're not interested in and suddenly the whole experience changes.

I very very rarely block users or servers because I don't want to put myself into an echo chamber, but I have a long list of communities blocked because I have no interest in them whatsoever. There could be anime girls posted every 10 seconds with thousands of upvotes for all I know, but I've blocked them because I don't care. They can continue having fun in their community, I can be blissfully unaware of it. Win win.

Make the threadiverse your own and it's far more enjoyable than everything all at once.

I feel there's more unusual people than nahh, but nobody talks about (due to risk of presenting as abnormal). Thank you as well MrShankles! I left reddit for lemmy. I think my next move will be a daily walk to the coffee shop and see if I can meet some like-minded folks in real-time.
