I honestly feel the need to push back on this. Because the criticism of people talking about "alpha males" is so old and boring and worn out that it is now irritating to me, and gives off "well, actually" energy.

Let's talk about hierarchies in human society. Sure, maybe the terminology originally came from flawed wolf research, but also, ketchup used to be made with mushrooms. The origin of a word doesn't imply it means the same thing now.

What does he mean? Well, "being alpha" could largely be defined as simply having confidence and being a leader. If manosphere bro says "that guy is so alpha", what he means is "that guy has traits that I admire, such as physical strength, confidence, charisma, useful skills, wealth, or followers/admirers/acolytes".

Now, does bro's advice parse? Does a "more alpha" man get more girls? Well... probably. Search your heart, you know it to be true - the jacked rich guy who owns his own company, who spends his days making important decisions and issuing instructions to his employees, and who is always the center of attention among his friends or at parties... That guy is going to get more interest from women than the out of shape shy guy who works a boring office job where he has no real autonomy. Who is the love interest in romance novels?
